    4 Ways to Make Your Onboarding Successful

    Finding the right employees is hard work. When you finally get them in place, you want them to be happy with their decision to join your team.

    Unfortunately, it doesn’t always go that way. It’s very common for new employees to quit within their first 90 days if the position or your company doesn’t meet their expectations. Getting them off to a strong start with a robust onboarding program is imperative, so learn how to achieve this the right way.

    Give Them a Warm Welcome

    Walking into a brand new workplace is intimidating for even the strongest personalities. Make your new hires feel immediately appreciated by showing them how excited you are to have them on the team. There are plenty of ways to accomplish this, including having their workstation set up and ready to go, informing the team of their start date, and being available to greet them upon arrival on their first day.

    Provide Adequate Resources

    Set new hires up for success by providing the tools needed to do their jobs right. When possible, try to make sure these things are in place prior to their first day, so they can hit the ground running. Top talent wants to do great work, so if their performance is hindered due to a lack of resources, you’re not going to make a great first impression.

    Introduce Them to the Team

    Adjusting to a whole new group of co-workers isn’t easy, so help new employees get acquainted. Walk them around on their first day and introduce them to other team members. If possible, organize a group lunch or a gathering in the breakroom, so they have a chance to get to know their colleagues.

    Clearly Define Their Role

    If new hires don’t understand what they’re supposed to be doing, they’ll quickly regret accepting the job. Get on the same page from day one by clearly outlining all responsibilities associated with the position. This will make training easier, because they’ll know exactly what to focus on.
