Job Title: Hospital Patient Cook
Job Summary:
The primary purpose of this job position is to be responsible for the preparation and setup of all patient meals, ensuring that they are cooked, presented, and served in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The Patient Cook will work closely with the kitchen supervisor, team leaders, and other food service staff to ensure efficient operations and high-quality meal service. This position requires leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to follow corporate recipes and maintenance plans.
Reports to: Kitchen Supervisor, Relief Manager or Team Leader
Essential Job Duties
- Completes food temperature checks. Serves correct portion and diet to each resident. Maintains appropriate HealthCare Center meal counts and tallies.
- Cleans work area and equipment used in food preparation and service.
- Follows all safety and sanitation procedures. Delivers food items to and from main kitchen.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Promotes clean, safe and neat environment for residents, self and staff.
- Demonstrates knowledge of fire safety procedures, and assists with evacuation of residents to a safe location in the event of fire or other emergency.
- Maintains confidentiality of residents’ personal and medical record information.
- Cooperates with staff of other departments in performing job duties.
Physical Requirements:
Must be a minimum of sixteen (16) years of age. Ability to see and hear or to use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that position requirements can be fully met. Sufficient manual dexterity to operate a fire extinguisher.
Personal Requirements:
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
Good communications skills; sound mental and physical health; ability to get along well with others; to demonstrate flexibility and patience; to work as a member of a team; to demonstrate a high level of sensitivity and interest in people, especially older adults. Ability to show great leadership skills in an organized and ethical fashion.
Education: Minimum of High School preferred.
Experience: Prior experience of 1 year required.
