Position Highlights:

About the Role:                                                                                              The Tool and Die Maker is a member of the Maintenance department with responsibility for providing hand-on research and technical knowledge to develop new products through modification and design of tooling and support existing products to promote the growth of the “Companies” products.
 

Safety, Health, Environment & Security:
  • Ensure own work practices and environment comply with SHES standards
  • Advise and participate in SHES monthly safety committee meetings and activities
  • Provide leadership and coaching to employees to ensure SHES plans and standards are understood and met

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, design schematics, and CAD drawings.
  • Visualizing and computing metal shapes and tolerances.
  • Designing jigs and templates as work aids in the fabrication of parts.
  • Measuring and marking metal stock for machining.
  • Setting up machine tools such as drills, lathes, grinders, milling machines, mechanical presses.
  • Cutting and shaping blocks to specified dimensions.
  • Filling, grinding, and shimming metals to ensure a smooth finish.
  • Fitting and assembling tools and die parts.
  • Inspecting finished dies and tools for defects, smoothness, and contour deformities.
  • Troubleshooting metal stamping dies to meet customer and quality expectations.
  • Controlling consumable inventory for all stamping, shearing, threading, swaging, and rolling tooling.
  • Coaching and Teaching operators on proper die set ups.
  • Writing SOP for Die Set Ups

   

 

Critical Experience and Qualifications:

Education/Experience: 

  • 4 – 6 or more years of experience as a tool & die maker in manufacturing
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent
  • Journeyman's card or equivalent education
